
The Spectrogram is an online speculative fiction literary journal owned and operated by Speculative Fiction Writers Association (“SpecFicWriters”), a Colorado non-profit association. (Speculative fiction envisions a world different from our own, and includes the following genres: Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, and Dystopian/Utopian, either alone or in combination with those or any other genre(s).) The Spectrogram is copyrighted by SpecFicWriters. Reproduction of its contents, in any form for any commercial purpose, requires the prior written approval of both SpecFicWriters and the applicable author or creator of such content.

Issue No. 1 of The Spectrogram was published in 2025. Each new issue will cover a calendar year. Published stories are all winners of the SpecFicWriters independently-judged contests. In rising order of importance, those are: Speck of Fancy themed flash fiction contest, then the Speckled Spectrum short story contest, and finally the Spectacular Quill Award.
Staff: The Editor is the Chair of the SpecFicWriters Publications Committee. As of July 2025, that is Kenton Erwin. The Advisory Board for The Spectrogram includes the SpecFicWriters Board, the members of the SpecFicWriters Publications Committee, and the members of the SpecFicWriters Technology Committee.
